Affection for a friend
During my Card Class several ladies used this same layout and changed the words; sympathy, get well and Happy Anniversary. This stamp set is so versatile.  Here are a few tips to creating this card.  1) Work outside the box with colors. The Color Coach (pg. 151) is a wonderful tool to help you come up with new combinations.  2) The border along the left side was created using just HALF of the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. I punched it out and cut it up the center.  I used the other half on a second card.  3) The image behind the heart and wings was punched out using the Scallop Oval punch to create more texture.  4) Here's another example where different patterns and textures work together.  If you're "old school", like me, you were taught not to mix polka dots and stripes together but this card proves you can.  I used the Chevron embossing folder for the background and still added polka dot designer paper.  Don't be afraid to experiment. Some of my best layouts were accidents.  5) The banner tip on the white cardstock was created by using the square punch. Just insert the cardstock tip into your punch (use your punch upside down so you can see), line it up and voila!
